New Zealand’s leading transport technology company, EROAD, has appointed independent director Michael Bushby as Chairman of its Board of Directors. CEO Steven Newman said the company invited Mr Bushby, Executive General Manager of the Leighton Contractors Services Division, to join its board in March, and was delighted he had now agreed to take up a role as Chairman.
Leighton Contractors is the largest private motorway and tunnel operations and maintenance provider in Australia, and employs more than 9000 people across Australia and New Zealand. Michael was previously Chief Executive of the New South Wales Roads and Traffic Authority and was responsible for their $AU 5.3 billion NSW Roads Program and 8000 RTA staff. Michael has been a key participant in the Australian heavy vehicle reform programme and involved in improving and setting new standards for safety, operations and asset management for NSW’s extensive road network.

EROAD is a private company that implemented and now operates the world’s first network-wide GPS/cellular based road charging system. The EROAD technology solution encompasses in-vehicle hardware, and a bank-grade web-based payment and service gateway. EROAD now collects in excess of $100 million of electronic Road User Charges on behalf its commercial transport clients.
