EROAD looks for engineers

Electronic road user charges and transport services company EROAD will hire up to 40 additional engineers in the coming year, EROAD engineering manager Jarred Clayton told the Amazon Web Services summit in Auckland today.

Mr Clayton’s presentation outlined the company’s rapid growth as it supports both the uptake of electronic road user charges (eRUC) in New Zealand, and expansion into global markets like the United States and Australia.

He told his audience that the company’s expansion of its engineering capability would continue in tandem with its investment in research and development to extend the capability of its world-first electronic road tolling and other services.

Mr Clayton joined AWS ANZ Managing Director Ed Lenta on stage for the opening keynote at the annual summit, which provides technical advice and customer testimonials to new and existing AWS customers.

Mr Clayton said that the company’s use of Amazon’s cloud services was integral to its growth.

“Thanks to a cloud platform, we can support global expansion from our Auckland base,” he said, “but attracting engineers to fill new roles that are continuously being created remains a constant challenge.”

EROAD has opened sales offices in Oregon, USA, and in Melbourne, Australia, in recent months, but will manufacture its in-vehicle units in New Zealand and could scale production here significantly, said Mr Clayton.
